Originally recorded in 1986, Ignition features a single track of Fender Mustang bass processed through a Lexicon PCM70, with an additional track of processed vocal. And that’s all. The audio languished for 25 years on cassette, until I grabbed a public-domain stock clip (“Way Stations In Space”, from 1961) out of the Prelinger Archive at archive.org/details/prelinger.

Poring through these old tapes is like opening a box of memories, and any signal degradation you might hear is an inherent result of the original medium, as well as a hallmark of the now-outdated technology that gave this piece its initial birth.
